Fanatics founder Michael Rubin, a Bryn Mawr resident, saw his fortune jump more than $2 billion to $11.7 billion, landing him at No. 124 on the 2026 Forbes 400 list.

Forbes released the 45th edition of its annual ranking on Sept. 15. Rubin was one of five Montgomery County residents to make the cut, according to MontCo.Today. It took a minimum net worth of $4.4 billion to qualify, and a record 590 American billionaires fell short.

Rubin, 54, founded and leads Fanatics, a global digital sports platform spanning licensed merchandise, trading cards, sports betting and live events. The company employs more than 22,000 people across 80 offices worldwide and expects roughly $13 billion in revenue in 2026, according to Fanatics' corporate site.

Forbes estimates the company is worth $25 billion. In 2026, Rubin was also named to Time magazine's inaugural TIME100 Sports list.

His path started in Montgomery County. Rubin grew up in Lafayette Hill, where he opened a ski-tuning shop in his parents' basement at age 12. Two years later, using $2,500 in bar mitzvah gifts as seed capital, he opened Mike's Ski and Sport in Conshohocken. He attended Villanova University for one semester.

He dropped out.

He later built e-commerce company GSI Commerce and sold it to eBay for $2.4 billion in 2011. He then bought back Fanatics and other consumer businesses from eBay at a lower price, building the platform into its current form.

"People are like, 'How's your work life balance?' Like, I don't have any, okay? Because it's all work. Cuz I love it," Rubin said in an April 3 interview on the Aspire Archives YouTube channel.

The other four Montgomery County billionaires on the list: Jeff Yass of Haverford at No. 18 with $77.8 billion, Arthur Dantchik of Gladwyne at No. 59 with $19.5 billion, Jeffrey Lurie of Wynnewood at No. 187 with $8.8 billion, and Mitchell Morgan, also of Montgomery County, at No. 256 with $6.7 billion. Lurie's fortune grew 16 percent, with the Philadelphia Eagles' Super Bowl LIX win helping drive the increase, MontCo.Today reported.
