Savannah Dever became the first Bryn Mawr College student to receive the Jeff Ubben Posse Fellowship, the college announced Wednesday, Sept. 30.
Dever, a Class of 2028 student majoring in sociology with a data science minor, was one of five Posse Scholars chosen from more than 700 eligible sophomores at colleges nationwide. Each fellow receives $10,000 and a summer placement shadowing a leader in fields ranging from business to entertainment, according to the Posse Foundation. The program launched in 2016 with a $1 million fund.
The fellowship sent Dever to New York City, where she spent 10 weeks shadowing Warner Music Group CEO Robert Kyncl, according to the college. Her work centered on building a data tool that blended technical experience with executive-level collaboration. She sat in on meetings with Kyncl and the leadership team and conducted a one-on-one interview with the CEO, focusing on his approach to leadership.
Kyncl has led Warner Music Group since 2023. He previously served as chief business officer at YouTube and vice president of content at Netflix.
"Music is where I start and where I end," Dever said. "So being able to take that passion from a young age and actually work at a company built around it was just a perfect match."
A classical pianist from Houston, Dever graduated from a performing arts high school before arriving at Bryn Mawr as a Posse Scholar. Bryn Mawr has partnered with Posse Houston since 2012 and Posse Boston since 2000.
At Bryn Mawr, Dever studies piano, plays in Chamber Music at Haverford and has served as pianist for the Bi-Co Orchestra. She is also a supervisor at Erdman Dining Hall, student coordinator for Breaking Barriers and co-president of both Sisterhood and the public speaking club Hear Me Out.
The other 2026 Ubben fellows were placed with leaders including NHL Players' Association Executive Director Marty Walsh, Bayer AG CEO Bill Anderson and Aurora CEO Chris Urmson. Applicants must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher.
Outside the office during summer 2026, Dever set a goal to visit all five New York City boroughs. She completed it, taking in Broadway shows, concerts and jazz performances along the way.
