Two former Lower Merion High School Bulldogs teammates will face each other at the Division I level when Temple hosts Army West Point at Lincoln Financial Field on Friday, Sept. 25.
Freshman defensive tackle Kechan Miller lines up for the Owls. Junior offensive lineman Xavier Archawski wears No. 78 for the Black Knights. Both played under head coach Joe Augustine in Ardmore before taking their games to the next level, according to the Lower Merion School District.
Miller, who graduated from Lower Merion in June, was a four-year letterwinner who played both offensive and defensive tackle for the Bulldogs. The 6-foot-2, 300-pound Washington, D.C., native signed with Temple on Dec. 3, 2025, according to Temple's National Signing Day announcement.
Archawski took a longer path to West Point. After graduating from Lower Merion in 2023, he spent a year at the United States Military Academy Preparatory School before joining the Black Knights roster. He appeared in all 12 games during the 2025 season and enters 2026 as a 6-foot-5, 305-pound junior, according to roster data from OurLads. At Lower Merion, he earned two all-state selections and was a four-time all-conference pick across four years as a starter. At West Point, he is majoring in Systems and Decision Sciences.
The matchup could pit the two directly against each other.
Miller rushes from the interior defensive line. Archawski blocks on the offensive front. If both see the field at the same time, a former Bulldogs teammate will be lined up across from him on every snap.
Both squads enter the game at 1-1 and looking to get back above .500. Temple, coached by K.C. Keeler, opened with a 38-14 win over Rhode Island before falling 27-9 to No. 16 Penn State on Sept. 12 at the Linc. That Penn State game drew 61,714 fans to the same stadium where the Sept. 25 contest will be played. Army, under head coach Jeff Monken, routed Bryant 59-3 in its opener before losing 28-24 at South Florida on Sept. 12.
Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. on ESPN. Army travels to Louisiana Tech on Oct. 3. Temple's next home game after the Army contest is Oct. 10 against UConn.
