Fourth graders from across Lower Merion School District tried out instruments at Lower Merion High School during the district's annual Meet the Instrument Night.
The event, hosted by LMSD's music departments in partnership with Zeswitz Music, let students hold and play a range of instruments before choosing one for the district's instrumental music program, according to the district's newsroom. The district did not specify the exact date of the event.
High school musicians joined district music teachers at stations, talking with fourth graders about what instruments might suit them. Families could ask questions about the program.
The district called the evening a positive start to the instrumental music experience.
LMSD's music program has earned national recognition. The NAMM Foundation named the district a Best Communities for Music Education honoree for the sixteenth consecutive time in 2026.
The district has not announced a deadline for fourth-grade instrument selection.
