Lower Merion's girls' volleyball team is rolling through the 2026 season, with senior setter Stevie Rothberg now the program's all-time assist leader.
Rothberg reached 1,000 career assists during a match against West Chester East and has since climbed to 1,277, The Merionite reported on Oct. 9. The Aces stood at 12-1 at the time, ranked second in PIAA District 1 and 11th in the state.
Rothberg called the milestone a team achievement. She told the school paper she was "very grateful for a team that supported me through this goal and also helped me reach such a memorable milestone."
The record is one piece of a season full of highlights. The Aces have posted four sweeps and pulled off two reverse-sweep comebacks, rallying from 2-0 deficits to beat both Downingtown East and Upper Merion, a team Lower Merion had never previously defeated, according to the Merionite. A 3-0 win over Central Bucks West, ranked fourth in the state, stands out as well.
MaxPreps results show the Aces beat Conestoga 3-2 on Oct. 7, topped Haverford 3-2 on Oct. 8, and swept Upper Darby 3-0 on Monday, Oct. 12. MaxPreps also lists a 2-3 loss to Valley Forge Military Academy on Oct. 5, a result not reflected in the Merionite's 12-1 tally.
Lower Merion's lone loss at the time of the Merionite's report came Sept. 24 against Garnet Valley, 15-12 in the fifth set. The paper called it the closest the Aces had come to beating Garnet Valley since the 2020 season.
Captain Josephine Huh, a senior, credited the team's mental toughness. "One of the main factors has definitely been our mental strength," Huh told the Merionite. She said she hopes the squad reaches the state semifinals.
Coaches Lauren and Dan Perri are in their 14th season leading the program together. JV coach Jenna DeTemple, a Lower Merion alum, has her squad at 7-4.
Off the court, senior Crista McMillan announced her commitment to play volleyball at Immaculata University. Immaculata women's volleyball head coach Mary Kirchner led the program to its first Atlantic East Conference semifinal appearance in 2025, according to the university's athletics department.
The Aces are projected to reach the district and state playoffs for a sixth straight year. Home matches are played in Kobe Bryant Gymnasium.
