Carlino's Market in Ardmore has won the Best Deli award for two consecutive years from Main Line Today, and the magazine's new guide to 13 area delis published Thursday features four Lower Merion Township sandwich shops.
The guide, written by Anne E. Hill, names Carlino's at 2616 E. County Line Rd. as the 2025 and 2026 Best of the Main Line & Western Suburbs winner for Best Deli. The magazine highlights the market's chicken cutlet hoagie, fried eggplant parm bowl and house sausage sandwich, calling it "one of the area's most renowned delis."
Pat Carlino, the company's CEO, runs the market his parents Nicola and Angela Carlino founded in 1983 after emigrating from Abruzzo, Italy. The family opened their first store in a former barbershop on East County Line Road. The business is now in its third generation, with Pat and his wife Laura at the helm and their children managing marketing, wholesaling, importing and manufacturing.
"Things that are trending now, we were doing 40 years ago," Pat Carlino told the Philadelphia Inquirer in February 2026, describing the store's longstanding focus on fresh, clean ingredients.
The Inquirer profile noted that Carlino's had become a go-to for Main Line shoppers following the closure of Di Bruno Bros. markets in Ardmore and Wayne earlier that year. Since 2022, the company has expanded its wholesale line of sauces, dry pastas, and pestos to hundreds of grocery stores including Wegmans and Giant.
Three other Lower Merion delis made the Main Line Today list. Hymie's Delicatessen at 342 Montgomery Ave. in Merion, a past Best of the Main Line award winner owned by Louis Barson, earned a spot for its "Best of Both Worlds Reuben". Murray's at 285 Montgomery Ave. in Bala Cynwyd, just 463 feet from Hymie's, is known for its huge portions and its Murray's Delight sandwich. Jeannie's Deli at 2 E. Athens Ave. in Ardmore rounds out the township's entries with daily specials including grilled pastrami and a grilled chicken pesto wrap.
Carlino's Ardmore location is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
