Bryn Mawr College will present recommendations for a 20-year campus vision at a town hall on Monday, Sept. 14, one of several public events scheduled this fall.

Representatives from DLR Group, the design firm developing the college's Comprehensive Campus Plan, will share their recommendations and potential next steps at the noon event in Old Library Great Hall. The presentation draws on feedback gathered from the campus community over the past year, according to a Wednesday, Sept. 9, letter from President Wendy Cadge and Provost Dee Matthews.

Lunch will be provided. Attendees are asked to RSVP online.

The campus plan process dates to at least fall 2024. A November 2025 workshop had community members using colored string, stickers and Post-it notes on campus maps to envision the college's future, according to the college's strategic direction page. The final plan was due to the college in June 2026, making the Sept. 14 session a late-stage presentation of what DLR Group found.

At convocation on Aug. 30, Cadge spoke about the campus's direction. "Bryn Mawr must be a beacon, not a cloister," she told the audience. "At the same time, the beauty, belonging, contemplation, and tradition sacred and central to the Bryn Mawr experience must endure."

The fall Presidential Speaker Series, launched in spring 2026, brings two events to campus. On Thursday, Oct. 1, Goodhart Hall hosts the Philadelphia-area premiere of "Women Laughing," a 2025 documentary about women cartoonists at The New Yorker. A roundtable with 10 cartoonists follows the 7 p.m. screening, including Bryn Mawr alumna Maggie Larson.

On Tuesday, Nov. 10, psychologist Beverly Tatum visits Old Library Great Hall from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tatum, president emerita of Spelman College, led Spelman from 2002 to 2015 and served as interim president of Mount Holyoke College from 2022 to 2023. Her 2025 book, "Peril and Promise: College Leadership in Turbulent Times," examines financial difficulties, political attacks and social pressures facing colleges. The first 50 attendees will receive a free copy, and a book signing follows.

The Creative Writing Department's Reading Series adds two evenings in Goodhart Hall's Music Room. Novelist Dinaw Mengestu, a 2012 MacArthur Fellow and director of the Written Arts Program at Bard College, reads on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 6:30 p.m. A native of Ethiopia who came to the United States at age two, Mengestu has written four novels, all New York Times Notable Books. Novelist Kaitlyn Greenidge, features director at Harper's Bazaar and a Guggenheim Fellow, reads on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 6:30 p.m.
