A fire at a car dealership on the 1000 block of DeKalb Street in Ardmore escalated to a second alarm on Monday, Sept. 7. Multiple fire companies responded.

The blaze started as a vehicle and trailer fire beneath an overhang at the dealership before spreading into the building, according to a report from the Merion Fire Company of Ardmore. Firefighters were dispatched at 5:35 p.m.

Worsening conditions triggered the second-alarm upgrade, bringing additional crews and mutual-aid companies from outside Lower Merion Township. Station 25 personnel operated as a Rapid Intervention Team, standing by to assist any firefighter in distress.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control after an extensive multi-company response.

The fire company's report did not identify the dealership by name, did not list which mutual-aid companies responded and did not address whether anyone was injured. No cause or damage estimate has been released.
