Six fire companies extinguished a kitchen fire at a second-floor apartment at 101 Mill Creek Road in Ardmore on Wednesday, Sept. 9.
The Merion Fire Company of Ardmore, which operates as Station 25, was dispatched at 12:13 p.m. after a fire was reported in the apartment, according to an incident alert posted by the company. Units from Stations 26, 24, 23, 21 and 28 were also sent to assist.
First-arriving crews found a small kitchen fire and brought it under control before it could spread, the company said. The fire stayed contained to the immediate area.
The alert, written by Graham Fuller, did not state whether any residents were injured or displaced. No cause or damage estimate was included.
The fire company reminded residents that kitchen fires can escalate fast and urged people not to leave cooking unattended and to keep flammable items away from stoves.
