Philadelphia-area bassist Mitchell Beer is turning his 45th birthday into a fundraiser for two local music nonprofits, bringing a lineup of 14 musicians to Ardmore Music Hall on Saturday, August 1 for the Mitch-A-Palooza Benefit Concert.
"Mitchapalooza is my 45th birthday benefit for Philly Music Fest & the Music Media Collective," Beer wrote on Facebook. "Come make some noise with us."
Proceeds from the show will support Philly Music Fest, a nonprofit founded in 2017 by Greg and Jenn Seltzer that pays performers, books only independent venues, and donates profits to local music education programs. The organization donated $100,000 each year in 2022, 202, and 2024 after paying all musicians and venues, according to its website. Beneficiary programs include Rock To The Future, Settlement Music School, and Play On Philly.
The second beneficiary, the Music Media Collective, is a Philadelphia-based 501(c)(3) founded in 2024 with a mission to support radio, journalism, podcasting and live entertainment professionals across the region.
Tickets are available through AXS or at the Ardmore Music Hall box office, which is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from noon to 5 p.m. with no ticket fees. The venue is steps from the Ardmore SEPTA station on the Paoli/Thorndale line.
The concert is one of several community events filling Ardmore's summer calendar:
National Night Out — Tuesday, August 4, 6 to 9 p.m. at Suburban Square. The free annual event moves to a new location this year, with local police, emergency responders, music, carnival rides, and food. Coordinated by the Lower Merion Town Watch.
Ardmore Rock N' Ride — Sunday, August 9, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. along Lancaster Avenue and Suburban Square. A free community fundraiser benefiting Narberth Ambulance Emergency Services, featuring a USA Cycling criterium bike race, multi-stage concerts, and a family fun zone, with a goal of raising $300,000.
