Montgomery County's three commissioners will take their board meeting on the road Thursday, holding a full session at 6 p.m. at the Hatfield Township Administration Building, 1950 School Road. The meeting is open to the public.
The Hatfield stop continues a series that has brought official county business to communities outside the county seat of Norristown, including Limerick, Montgomeryville, and Lower Merion. These are not town halls or listening sessions. The commissioners conduct regular board business at each stop, just at an evening hour designed to reach residents who cannot attend the usual Thursday morning meetings in Norristown.
Commissioner Tom DiBello, who launched the initiative as part of his campaign platform, said the program has drawn appreciative crowds at each location.
"I'm really excited that we're going to be going to Hatfield," DiBello told Main Line Media News. "This is our way of trying to get out into the communities, and giving residents the opportunity to come to a commissioners meeting, and see us, and talk to us."
DiBello said he expects affordable housing to surface as a topic during public comment at the Hatfield meeting. He noted that residents at prior stops have raised concerns specific to their own neighborhoods, issues that might not come up at the Norristown sessions.
The three-member board includes Chairwoman Jamila Winder, Vice Chairman Neil Makhija and DiBello.
