Lower Merion's National Night Out festival will take over Suburban Square in Ardmore on Tuesday, August 4, offering a free evening of live music, carnival rides, food and face-to-face time with the police officers, firefighters and EMS crews who serve the township.

The event runs from 6 to 9 p.m., according to the Lower Merion School District's community events listing.

Among the community organizations on hand will be Narberth Ambulance, the Ardmore-headquartered nonprofit that provides 911 emergency medical services across Lower Merion Township, Haverford Township and the boroughs of Narberth, Conshohocken, West Conshohocken and Lansdowne. The 130-member team of career and volunteer EMS professionals was dispatched to 16,353 calls in 2024, according to the organization's website.

Founded in 1944 when Narberth residents began transporting World War II service members home from Philadelphia's ports, the nonprofit now operates four stations and nine ambulances. It receives only a small fraction of its operating budget from public sources and relies on donations and membership drives to keep crews on the road around the clock.

National Night Out is coordinated by the Lower Merion Town Watch and the National Association of Town Watch. The annual event aims to strengthen police-community partnerships and share safety information from local nonprofits and businesses.

The Lower Merion School District will staff a table with back-to-school checklists, activity books and giveaways. District administrators will be available to answer questions about schools and job opportunities.

Organizers are asking attendees to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the ElderNet Food Pantry.
